What is a Sharing Session?

"The purpose of a Sharing Session is to fill a need for improved communication among the Area Committee, Districts and Groups, thereby strengthening services in AA through cooperation. These sessions are called for a specific purpose requiring shared ideas and experience, in order to best serve Alcoholics Anonymous. Sharing Sessions are not designed to reach a conclusion as say, at a regular AA business meeting."

Why Hold an A A Dance?

"It's clear that AA get-togethers beyond the group have become an established part of AA life. The calendar in any Box 4-5-9 or in the Grapevine shows how many Conventions, Conferences and Banquets are being held by AA's throughout the world. Since the ticket prices can be established at a level sufficient to cover the total costs, this should result in no actual out-of-pocket expense to the groups. It's a good idea, though, to put the tickets on sale well in advance of the Event and to know where the break even point lies. Ticket fees cover costs for special events."

What if These Events Make a Profit?

"In most cases, part of the surplus is held in trust for next year's events. Then the committee uses the balance to help support local services or the General Service Office. In accordance with our Seventh Tradition, only funds from AA members attending the event should be contributed to support AA activities."
